Just back from an excellent fortnight in Nuno’s flat – despite somewhat cloudy weather so trips round the island were a bit curtailed. No joy in driving through low cloud when you want to enjoy the spectacular views!
But the flat was warm and cosy, with fabulous views over Funchal and the harbour. The hammock was a delight on sunny afternoons – the balcony is a real suntrap.
The roads in Funchal are a bit of a challenge, narrow and winding and of course very hilly. But Nuno’s instructions were excellent and it was good to be able to park in the driveway and not fear someone clipping the car in the narrow street in front of the house. The neighbours were very helpfu too – only too willing to move cars to enable us to park. And as an alternative route into town, the bus service is very easy – just remember that it takes about 10 to 15 mins for the bus to reach the stop from town as the timetable provided only shows departure times from town and the terminal at the top. The stop is at the end of the road and you then go up to the terminal and turn round immediately for the return journey – which goes through other streets so it is best to do what the locals do and go for the ride. It only adds a few minutes to the journey. The bus stops opposite the indoor market in town and you can pick it up again from the harbour promenade.
The flat was very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and excellent wifi coverage. The pictures give a good feel for the place.
Nuno and Carlota could not have been more helpful – Carlota even came out to replace the flickering neon light in the kitchen. And a weekly clean was a nice touch.
All in all we thoroughly recommend the flat, Thank you Nuno and Carlota.
