Wir waren zu Zweit für eine Woche in Murteiras Apartment. Die Kommunikation mit Nuno war super unkompliziert und sehr hilfreich. Wir hatten ein tolles Essenspaket — Danke nochmal dafür. Die Ausstattung lässt keine Wünsche offen. Der Blick über Funchal ist grandios und entschädigt für die sehr steilen kleinen Straßen, die zur Wohnung führen. Wer lieber keinen Mietwagen nehmen möchte, findet in unmittelbarer Nähe eine Bushaltestelle. (Linie 34) oder kann in ca 25 Minuten in die Stadt bzw. in die Zona Velha laufen.

The only problem with the Murteiras Apartment is saying goodbye to the million dollar view at the end of your stay. Over the 5 weeks we were there my wife and I took dozens and dozens of photos from the balcony - daytime, sunsets and after dark. None of them do justice to the view. The apartment itself is very comfortable, well furnished and reasonably spacious. Funchal is very hilly so it can be a workout, but you can take the 34 bus from the center of the city to the stop 20 yards from the front door. Enjoy the view!

Our 3rd stay at this lovely apartment with breath taking views over Funchal. This was our third stay at Murteiras Apartments. The apartment is spacious, immaculately clean and well presented. It has a large balcony where we had breakfast in the mornings and a glass of wine in the evenings enjoying the city lights and amazing views over Funchal and the Port. We visited Funchal in December when Funchal’s Christmas decorations and entertainment are amazing. Though the apartment is a pleasant 30minute walk down hill to Funchal there is a bus stop one minute walk away from the apartment. A weekly Giro bus pass can be bought in town for around 22€ and can be used unlimited within Funchal. Communication with Nuno is excellent and very informative. We look forward to our next stay at Nuno’s Apartment.

Traumhafter Aufenthalt. Ein rundum gelungener Aufenthalt: herzlicher Empfang mit Abholung am Flughafen, Erklärung der Wohnung und Versorgung mit Grundlebensmitteln. Tolle Wohnung, in der ich mich sofort zu Hause gefühlt habe. Topausstattung, die keine Wünsche offen lässt: Geschirrspülmaschine, Waschmaschine, .... Super sauber, traumhafter Blick über Funchal, top Anbindung ans örtliche Busnetz. Im nächsten Madeiraurlaub würde ich sehr gerne wieder hierher kommen.

Super persönliche Unterkunft zum Wohlfühlen fernab der Bettenburgen. Mietwagen empfehlenswert. Super ausgestatte Küche, schönes großes Wohnzimmer. Riesiger Balkon mit atemberaubender Aussicht. Erstausstattung im Kühlschrank vorhanden gewesen und frisches Brot. Etwas größeres Bett...zwei dünnere Bettdecken.

Prachtig ruim appartement met schitterend uitzicht over Funchal. Het terras was ook ruim en zonnig en je zit hier volkomen vrij. In de ochtend kan je zonnen op het terras aan de andere kant van het appartement. Goede busverbinding met de prachtige boulevaard van Funchal alwaar alle lokale en interlokale bussen vertrekken. De vele busverbindingen zijn goedkoop, altijd op tijd en rijden frequent. Voor ons perfect. De TV heeft een upgrade nodig.

Repetiría sin dudarlo. La amplitud del apartamento, la cocina muy bien equipada, no faltaba nada. Una vistas maravillosas desde el balcón y además estaba todo muy limpio. Buen funcionamiento de la Wifi. Muy importante, un colchón estupendo en el que puedes descansar de maravilla después de un largo día de turismo.

Wiederholungstäter. Seit März 2015 sind wir nun zum dritten Mal in Murteiras Apartment zu Gast gewesen. Neben dem wirklich überwältigenden Blick, ein Halbkreis vom Meer über Funchal bis hoch in die Berge, der offenbar niemanden unbeeindruckt lässt, gefallen uns die Lage und die hervorragende Ausstattung des Apartments. Man ist von hier aus in weniger als fünf Minuten auf der Schnellstraße, ohne sie vom Haus aus hören zu können. Nuno ist ein sehr aufmerksamer Gastgeber, der großen Wert darauf legt, dass es seinen Gästen gut geht und sich danach auch während des Aufenthalts telefonisch erkundigt hat. Wir waren dankbar für ein paar Willkommensüberraschungen, da wir spät eintrafen und so ein paar Kleinigkeiten für Abendessen und Frühstück hatten. Wir haben die gut ausgestattete Küche gerne und häufig benutzt. Waschmaschine und Geschirrspüler sind gerade durch neue Geräte ersetzt worden. Es mangelt in der Küche wirklich an nichts, was man auch zu Hause als einigermaßen ambitionierter Koch so hat. Hervorzuheben ist auch, dass nach einer Woche Aufenthalt die Wohnung gründlich gereinigt, Betten neu bezogen und frische Handtücher hingelegt werden. Das ist finde ich für eine Ferienwohnung nicht selbstverständlich. Wir mögen es außerdem gerne, in einem ganz normalen Wohngebiet Ferien zu machen und nicht im Hotelviertel, dass wir als relativ steril empfinden. Aber das ist natürlich Geschmackssache . Das wird garantiert nicht unser letzter Urlaub in Murteiras Apartment gewesen sein.

Above and beyond all expectations. If there were 10 stars to award we would do so. Nuno is an exemplary host - friendly, considerate, supportive. As we've been to Madeira for the very first time Nuno's recommendations (e.g. which car we should rent) were helpful from the beginning. The apartment is as perfect as described, there is nothing really nothing lacking, the furniture is neat and comfortable. So we felt at home within seconds! The best part of Nuno's property is the beautiful panorama view. We didn't imagine that the reality of the view would exceed our expectations. But it did. The view from the living room, the sleeping room and especially from the spacious balcony is overwhelming. We enjoyed watching the whole city, the ships in the harbour, the mountains, the Atlantic ocean, the setting sun in the endless sky. These were very relaxing moments after the activities of the day. It takes only a few minutes into the centre of Funchal, and it takes only a few minutes to the wonderful Palheiro Golf. Although it takes some hours from Vienna to Murteiras Apartment, we're sure to come back.

Brilliant. The apartment was really clean and all commutation with Nuno the owner was at all times first class. The views you could not get better we watched the crews ships come in each day. The balcony got the sun all day and enjoyed watching all what was happening in the Harbour. Thank you for a lovely stay and would defiantly recommend.

Traumwoche auf einer Trauminsel. Die Lage der Wohnung ist unglaublich toll,vor allem der Ausblick von der Balkonseite mit dem Schlaf/und Wohnzimmer. Zu jeder Tages und Nachtzeit...sogar bei Regen kann man diesen Ausblick genießen. Die Wohnung ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und es fehlt an nichts,sogar Toilettenpapier,Küchenrolle,Milch ,Kaffee,Brot,Saft u.s.w waren für den Erstgebrauch vorhanden. Nuno ist ein überaus herzlicher Gastgeber und immer telefonisch präsent. Wir sind ungern abgereist und waren auch erfreut über die kleine Elektroheizung....im März ist es am Abend noch ein bisschen frisch. Es war eine perfekte Hochzeitsreise!!!! Das Parken in dieser,für Madeira typischen, steilen Straße ist etwas abenteuerlich ,und der Parkplatz am Haus eher für geübte Einheimische gedacht. Es gibt aber auf der Hauptstraße stets einen passenden Parkplatz und es ist auch nah genug an der Wohnung.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful apartment. Given the amazing views from the apartment it's a small price to pay. The apartment is immaculate, well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The views from the balcony are amazing both during the day and in the evening watching the lights over Funchal. Good bus service at the end of the road. 7day Giro bus pass @ €22 was very good value as you can use it unlimited, anywhere in Funchal and runs quite late into the evening. It can be used to visit Monte, The Lido and the Forum Shopping Centre. Given all of Madeira is vey hilly you can jump on and off buses as you wish. Neighbours are very friendly. Lovely apartment.

We had a wonderful stay at Nuno‘s place! The location is great as it has this stunning view over Funchal and many parking places on the street. The bus stop is in front of the door as well. A very well equipped appartment and kitchen which allows you to feel like at home. Nicely decorated with eye for the detail. Communication was very smooth. We absolutely recommend this place!

Es fängt schon beim öffnen der Haustür an. Der Blick auf Funchal, sowie den Hafen...ein Traum. Sehr schöne, mit Liebe eingerichtete Wohnung. Alles da, was man braucht. Sehr geräumig und super sauber. Wenn ein Mietwagen in anspruch genommen wird, empfehle ich die "kleinste" Kategorie, da die Einfahrt auf den Hof sehr eng ist. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Superb! My friend and I had a fabulous time in Nuno's apartment, the terrace is beautiful at all times of day and night and the apartment is equipped with everything you'd need. Nuno was very helpful and available if you needed. Recommended!

Madeira vacation. Great hosts, fantastic views and a very relaxing place to stay. The apartment has everything you need to enjoy the best of Madeira. Quiet location and sheltered. To sit outside or inside and watch the island activity was truly a memorable occasion. Thank you Nuno and Carlotta for looking after us. We hope to come again.

Bellissima posizione panoramica e vicini di casa davvero gentili, noi abbiamo noleggiato l'auto ma la fermata dell'autobus è proprio vicinissima! L'appartamento è perfetto e curatissimo in ogni dettaglio che lo rende decisamente al di sopra dello standard,la cucina è attrezzatissima, le camere spaziose e i letti comodi, il bagno molto accogliente e la zona giorno bellissima con una vista meravigliosa! insomma è stata un'esperienza decisamente positiva!

Beautiful views! Our stay was lovely. The property was very clean and generous in size for two couples. The amenities were perfect! Great location for getting around the island as well as getting into Funchal. The view of the city as well as the ocean was outstanding!!! Definitely the place to stay while on Madeira Island!!!

Traumhafter Ausblick auf Funchal. Die Wohnung war super ausgestattet, die Lage ist herausragend. Kommunikation war perfekt, es blieben keine Fragen offen. Würden die Wohnung in jedem Fall wieder buchen.

Wunderbare Ferienwohnung. Die Wohnung liegt in einem ruhigen Wohnviertel, ab vom Trubel der Innenstadt. Viel Platz, schöne Einrichtung und ein toller Balkon mit spektakulärem Ausblick machen jeden Urlaub zu einem Erlebnis. Der Gastgeber kümmert sich liebevoll um seine Gäste, angefangen bei einem Willkommenspaket. Wir bekamen zu jeder Frage schnellste Antwort und auch darüber hinaus freundliche Unterstützung. Mit einem Bus, der fast von der Haustür losfährt, kommt man auch ohne Auto gut in die Innenstadt, es ist aber auch einfach, einen Parkplatz zu finden. Ich kann die Wohnung nur empfehlen!

Memorable Holidays! On our arrival we rented a car at the airport. The apartment was very easy to find following the instructions provided. We arrived in the evening and were meet at for the check-in. As soon as we step inside, we imediately had this wide impressive front view. The apartment is very comfortable and stylish and we didn’t miss anything. Everything an more than we could expect in the kitchen (4 different coffee makers and even a wok). We slept like angels in the good quality mattresses. Always had breakfast on the balcony watching the boats and the cruise ships. We also had dinner when we cooked at home. And we made much use of the hammock. We often used the excellent WiFi and the iPod dock. The 2nd week we used the Bus service just a few meters away. The apartment completely lived up to the description and all our expectations. All in all, we had a memorable holidays and surely will return soon.

Vue extraordinaire. Superbe appartement dans les hauteurs de Funchal! La vue est incontestablement son meilleur atout, c'était un plaisir à toute heure de se reposer sur le balcon en admirant la ville et la mer à nos pieds. L'appartement est lui-même très confortable, propreté irréprochable, très bien équipé, nous y étions très à l'aise en couple avec deux grands adolescents. Le propriétaire nous avait fourni une descriptif détaillé nous permettant d'arriver sans encombre en voiture depuis l'aéroport. Nous avons été accueillis avec une grande gentillesse lors de notre arrivée à l'appartement par Carlota. Le seul point à souligner est qu'il nous semble nécessaire pour y séjourner de disposer d'une voiture; l'appartement est situé à environ une demie-heure à pied du centre de Funchal, et la boulangerie la plus proche que nous ayons trouvée est à 1,2 km. Globalement, un excellent choix pour un séjour à Madère.

Great apartment, stunning view. The booking and arrangements all were very smooth. The apartment is roomy and stylish. Both bedrooms are spacious with good wardrobe space and ample hangers. The kitchen is very well equipped. The living area is very comfortable. The wifi was good. The star selling point has to be the fabulous view over Funchal and the bay with the cruise ships coming in and out. The balcony is a lovely place to sit in the afternoon and get the sun or sit in the evening with a glass of wine. It was so relaxing. The is a bus stop at the end of the street. The walk down to the old town takes about 25 minutes down a very steep hill and you will need a taxi back up.

Spectacular view. The flat is exactly as promised. Clean and convenient, picture windows on to the balcony in both main rooms. Comfortable furniture and a full kitchen. Drawbacks? No local supermarket, a car is needed. You will need drinking water as the tap water is heavily chlorinated. No local shops at all, but town is a convenient bus ride away if parking defeats you. Carlos, the caretaker is very helpful, and offers is services 24/7. We were met at the airport, and helped with our luggage. He has good recommendations for food and sights.

Horizonte pur. Die Aussicht ist, wie bereits vielfach beschrieben wurde, einfach traumhaft. Man fühlt sich erhaben, Funchal liegt einem zu Füßen und die Sonnenuntergänge und das Lichtermeer abends sind wunderschön. Vom Bett aus kann man aufs Meer blicken Zudem ist das Apartment sehr gut ausgestattet, komfortabel und geschmackvoll eingerichtet (was, wie wir bei der Suche gesehen haben, nicht selbstverständlich ist). Es ist an fast alles gedacht, es gibt Kerzen und jede Menge Windlichter, sogar ein Fernglas. Es gibt elektrische Heizkörper, was im März angesichts der noch kühlen Abende angenehm war. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet (scharfe Messer!!, elektrische Saftpresse, Wok, selbst an Fischbesteck wurde gedacht). Wir haben dort gerne und oft gekocht. Das Apartment ist in einer ruhigen Wohngegend gelegen, überwiegend Einzelhausbebauung. Ja, die Hunde bellen dort manchmal, auch nachts, aber das hat uns nicht so gestört. Wir waren heilfroh, dass wir nicht im Hotelviertel gelandet sind. Uns hat das Ambiente gut gefallen. Die Straßen sind sehr steil und oft auch schmal. Wir hatten einen Mietwagen, aber es gibt unmittelbar an der Straßenecke auch eine Bushaltestelle. Allerdings fährt der Bus meist nur jede Stunde. Obwohl man nur ca. 1 km von der Schnellstraße entfernt ist, hört man sie überhaupt nicht. Durch diese Lage ist das Apartment nicht nur ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Stadtbesuche in Funchal, sondern für Ausflüge rund um die Insel. Carlos und seine Frau Ana kümmern sich hervorragend um die Wohnung, sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und verlässlich.

Lovely modern apartment. Beautiful views but quite a long walk into funchal and the nearest restaurants. We always took a taxi back up the hill. We hired a car for the week and although the roads are incredibly steep, we had no problems and were able to explore the island. Good weather for walking but too cold for lazing around.

Breathtaking balcony views! We stayed in Murteiras apartment in May 2014 in time for the annual flower festival. This is a beautiful apartment and is very clean and of a high quality. The views from the bedroom and living room are fantastic! You can watch the cruise liners coming and going and oversee Funchal and up in to the surrounding mountains. Funchal is a beautiful, unspoilt town and holds it tradition and beauty. Be sure to plan your visit well and book on to plenty of Levada walks...a must see! We also went big game fishing for Tuna, Whale & Dolphin watching and sampled the local cuisine. The Flower Festival was outstanding. I'd recommend this apartment at New Year for fantastic views of the fireworks. The owner arranged our taxi transfer and responds well to emails. The taxi driver was very helpful with tips and history on the area. Funchal is very steep and narrow, driving isn't for the faint hearted! We didn't use a car and managed by foot. However you need to be fit, it took us 45 minutes to walk back from town and it's all up hill. There is a bus route outside the apartment but only runs hourly. The apartment is located on the side of town populated by the locals. It's ok but don't expect a taxi rank on your doorstep or shops. We arrived around 7pm in the evening tired and hungry. A welcome pack or bottle of wine, bread and milk would have been helpful. If I stayed here again I'd email ahead asking for some basic provisions which I wouldn't mind paying for. All in all though, this was a beautiful apartment, was fully equipped with bedding, towels, glasses, kitchen utensils. It was good value for its quality and sea views which you can't get anywhere else. Just be aware of the steep climb and it's location out of town. If you're looking to escape the hotels and noise this is a quiet spot to retreat to.

THE BEST PLACE TO STAY AND THE BEST VIEW IN MADEIRA ISLAND. We have just returned from a wonderful week in Nuno's beautiful apartment in Funchal - Madeira Island. The apartment was absolutely delightful. The moment you walk through the door you can instantly feel how much attention to detail went into designing and equipping it. From the highly tasteful decor to all the little extra special touches, the owner has ensured that every need was catered for whilst providing a very welcoming and luxurious feel. A good selection of electrical appliances was available in the spacious kitchen, even a Nespresso coffee machine. Murteiras Apartment is ideally situated above the city, the view from the balcony affords an outstanding panorama over the bay and mountains of Funchal. It was a pleasure to sit on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine and enjoy the view. We often find very difficult to get a good night’s sleep when away from home, this was certainly not the case here, it was a joy to be able to fall asleep on a comfortable bed. The owner was extremely helpful in providing lots of information on places to visit, restaurants, etc, which really made our holiday. We were able to explore the very best that Madeira Island has to offer and enjoy beautiful places in the 7 short days we were there. I strongly recommend to visit the Mercado dos Lavradores to see what’s available in fresh produce and then stock up the kitchen. If you like seafood you’re in for a treat, be sure to try the amazing Black Scabbard (Espada Preta) fish. There is a cafe/bakery and a grocery store within easy walking distance. We went swimming to Caniço just a few kilometres drive away, the water was 22 degrees in September and crystal clear. Madeira Island is incredibly beautiful and the people are genuinely friendly. I will highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxing holidays in Madeira Island, specially if you want to stay away from the tourist crowds. We can not wait to return.
